Rachel Maddow: Unpopular with minorities, Romney targets white vote.

Romney is not doing well among minority voters. He needs 61 percent of white voters to win the election. Eighty-nine percent of self-identified Republicans are white. Romney needs them, desperately.

I understand any candidate’s desire to win. I understand that politics are ugly, and I understand that elections are brutal.

But Romney is weakening the electorate, by assuming the worst of it.

He’s gone Palin.
